Pieter is a solicitor in our Halifax office. His practice includes estate planning and estate administration. He also supports lawyers across the firm with legal research and other work that calls for careful analysis and attention to detail.
Pieter understands that estate matters are personal. Planning for the future can involve difficult decisions, while administering an estate often brings significant responsibilities at an already difficult time. He takes the time to listen, explain the steps involved, and help people find a practical way forward.
Pieter studied law in both Canada and the Netherlands. He holds a Master of Laws in Administrative Law from Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law. At Leiden University, he earned a Master of Laws in Constitutional and Administrative Law, a Bachelor of Laws in Dutch Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in History. He also completed Leiden’s Honours College Law program.
Before joining our firm, Pieter worked as a lawyer and legal researcher in Nova Scotia. He also spent several years as a paralegal, gaining hands-on experience with court procedure, legal drafting, and organizing large volumes of information.
Outside the office, Pieter enjoys DIY projects in and around the house. He lives in Dartmouth with his rescue dog, Nina.
